Jon Kaplowitz, the chief executive of Penn Interactive, has stepped down from his role after over three years.

Kaplowitz revealed on LinkedIn that he is departing the firm, which oversees Penn National Gaming’s digital offerings, including Barstool Sportsbook & Casino and theScore, to concentrate on family life ahead of the arrival of his second child.

Kaplowitz joined Penn Interactive (PI) in February 2019 after a seven-year stint at Comcast, where he ascended to the position of Managing Director and General Manager – New Business. He previously held the position of Corporate Managing Director at the World Poker Tour.

Notable achievements during Kaplowitz’s time as CEO include the signing of PI’s exclusive sports betting and online casino partnership with Barstool Sports in 2019, which launched in 10 US states. Over the past three years, Penn National Gaming has established Penn Gaming Studios and acquired Score Media and Gaming, which owns theScore.

“Constructing and leading PI has been the most rewarding experience of my professional journey, made even more fulfilling by collaborating with an exceptional team and partners,” Kaplowitz stated.

“From the outset, our shared ambition was to become the leading, most inventive integrated sports media and gaming enterprise in the United States.”

For the past three years, Penn National Gaming’s departmental income has expanded twelvefold, its application is among the leading in the United States, and it has been recognized as one of the top work environments in Philadelphia and the sector. I am most pleased with the strong teamwork, openness, and internal leadership development that define our company culture.

“I appreciate everyone at Penn National Gaming for placing their trust in me for this position,” he stated. “It has been a privilege to work alongside all of you daily. Thanks to my associates at Barstool Sports and theScore, it’s been incredible to witness our multi-year partnership thrive and produce something truly distinctive.”

Penn Interactive has not yet provided a statement regarding Kaplowitz’s exit or plans for his replacement.
