A digital marketing firm based in Europe, Catena Media, has purchased PokerScout.com for $3.5 million. PokerScout.com is a platform that monitors internet poker action and offers rankings.

Catena Media is strategically entering the regulated online poker and casino gaming sector in the U.S. The purchase of PokerScout, a top provider of traffic data for the online poker sector, occurs at a critical juncture as Pennsylvania recently approved legislation permitting internet gambling. Catena Media already maintains a significant presence in the U.S. market, possessing multiple media assets in Pennsylvania and domain names targeting the regulated online gaming market in New Jersey.

Pennsylvania recently became the fourth state in the U.S. to legalize internet gaming, joining Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey. The state’s entry into the market is especially noteworthy as it is the first to permit both commercial casinos and its state lottery to provide online gaming.

Henrik Persson Ekdahl, CEO of Catena Media, stated that the acquisition of PokerScout places the company in a position to benefit from the projected expansion of the online gambling market in the U.S., particularly with the inclusion of Pennsylvania and the anticipation that other states will follow.

This development has been anticipated. It represents a significant event, a true indication of America’s expanding reach.
