Crown Resorts Appoints Bruce Carter to Board Amidst Reform Efforts

The prominent entertainment entity, Crown Resorts, has designated Bruce Carter to assume the role of a non-executive member on its board of directors. This strategic maneuver signifies a crucial step for the corporation as it endeavors to restore its public image following a string of controversies.

Carter contributes a vast reservoir of expertise, having dedicated over four decades to both governmental and commercial sectors. His prior roles include Deputy Chair of SkyCity Entertainment Group, where he spearheaded the enlargement of SkyCity Adelaide. Currently, he presides over the boards of the Australian Submarine Corporation and Aventus Capital, while also holding director positions at Queensland Bank and IAG.

Helen Coonan, who holds the position of Executive Chairman at Crown, underscored the significance of Carter’s inclusion, emphasizing his comprehensive background in commerce, corporate governance, and the gaming sector. She anticipates a positive reception from stakeholders and perceives this appointment as a testament to Crown’s dedication to positive change.

Carter conveyed his eagerness to join Crown at this critical juncture, expressing his belief in the company’s prospects. In a connected declaration, Crown Resorts verified that Professor John Horvath will leave his position on the council, commencing April 14, 2021. Ms. Coonan conveyed appreciation for Professor Horvath’s extensive service to Crown, especially his guidance as the first Chair of the Responsible Gaming Committee.

She continued, clarifying that these adjustments are part of the board’s continuing revitalization procedure. She highlighted the latest affirmation of Nigel Morrison’s regulatory clearances, allowing his inclusion on the Crown board.
