Aristocrat Sues Rival Light & Wonder Over Dragon Link Slot Machine Clone

A major player in the Australian gaming industry, Aristocrat, has filed a lawsuit against Light & Wonder. The suit alleges that Light & Wonder copied their highly successful “Dragon Link” slot machine with a questionable new offering.

Aristocrat contends that Light & Wonder is attempting to mislead consumers into believing their new game is, in fact, “Dragon Link” – a clear effort to profit from Aristocrat’s achievements. Further fueling the dispute, several individuals who contributed to “Dragon Link” at Aristocrat are now employed by Light & Wonder. Aristocrat is accusing them of divulging confidential information, a serious offense in Nevada, where both companies maintain a significant presence.

Central to the legal action are the mathematical underpinnings and internal mechanics of “Dragon Link.” Aristocrat asserts that Light & Wonder’s imitation game employs a strikingly similar formula, featuring nearly identical gameplay, symbols, win probabilities, and bonus elements.

Adding insult to injury, Aristocrat highlights that Light & Wonder’s version, “Dragon Train,” was spearheaded by a former Aristocrat developer who was directly involved in the original “Dragon Link.” “Dragon Train” debuted in North American casinos just last week.

Light & Wonder is not conceding. They are labeling the lawsuit as unfounded and are prepared to vigorously defend their game, which they claim is a top earner. They have already initiated efforts to have the lawsuit dismissed.

A Netherlands football club withdrew a promotional series showcasing their leader after worries surfaced from the Dutch gaming regulator. The advertisements, prominently placed throughout the municipality, were an element of a sponsorship agreement with a wagering firm.
