The UKs National Lottery administrator, Camelot, has welcomed Dara Nasr, a veteran of the technology and media sectors, to its advisory panel. Nasr, best known for his time at Twitter where he directed UK operations, will collaborate closely with Sir Keith Mills, a key figure at Camelot.

Nasr’s resume includes an impressive period at Google, but his influence on the constantly shifting world of social media during his time at Twitter is especially significant. He fostered a successful sales force and, importantly, steered the company through the challenging period of the COVID-19 crisis. His “New Normal Business” model provided a strategy for the future of work, and his dedication to employee well-being, particularly for remote employees, established a new benchmark within the technology sector.

“The digital environment, especially social media, has fundamentally altered how companies interact with their consumers,” Nasr observed. “This technology enables a degree of individualized engagement that is unparalleled, making brand narrative and promotion far more interactive and captivating.” He continued, “The opportunity for businesses to cultivate enduring connections with their clientele, around the clock, is vast, and mobile is central to this.”

Nasr’s choice to join Camelot arises from their shared outlook on the future. “Camelot and its parent organization, Sazka Group, recognize the significance of digital transformation within the lottery industry, and I’m enthusiastic to participate in their journey.”

Sir Keith Mills shared this perspective, stating, “Sazka Group has been a catalyst for digital lottery innovation throughout Europe. Dara’s knowledge will be essential as we continue to adapt and improve the National Lottery experience for our players.”

Allwyn, a quickly emerging force in the lottery sector, is demonstrating the significant potential of online platforms within this market. The addition of Dara to our ranks brings me great excitement, as his extensive background in digital and social channels will undoubtedly disrupt the status quo.

Recently, Sazka Group established Allwyn to consolidate its UK activities under a single entity. This decisive action underscores their commitment to securing the UK National Lottery concession.

The contest is intense, with industry heavyweights such as Camelot, Sisal, and Sugal & Damani also vying for the license. However, by forming Allwyn and recruiting a prominent figure like the former leader of Twitter UK, Sazka is making a bold statement: they are determined to succeed and become a dominant force in the UK.
